POSITION SUMMARY

The Category Analyst position is designed to provide our Sales team and internal partners with comprehensive category sales analysis and support. The person in this position will be responsible for running and compiling sales summaries, analyzing the data and providing actionable insights for retailer business. This person will also assist in the maintenance of the data hierarchy to maintain data integrity within the organization. Will need to be forward thinking and assist in the development of new processes to assist sales and product development team. This person should have an understanding of the retailer reset process as well as item life-cycle management.  Will need to have the ability to interpret data and present in a concise manner that is understandable to a broad audience. This ideal candidate will be familiar with retailer planogram process and should be able to use space planning software to interpret sales results and make recommendations for change based on data. 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create reporting dashboards and custom reports analyzing business results, including trend analysis, providing actionable recommendations and solutions to deliver continuous improvements to drive sales.
  • Support Category Director and Internal Teams with analytics requests and reporting.
  • Provide weekly sales summaries based on internal POS/NPD data.
  • Effectively present information and findings to Internal Teams and Category Director.
  • Research competitive activity to keep up with the industry and customer best practices and assist internal departments with implementations.
  • Drive process improvement and provide new ideas.
  • Prepare clear and concise business reviews.
  • Prepare presentations for buyer meetings and category reviews.
  • Support sales team with ad-hoc projects and requests as needed.

  • Work independently and manage time effectively in order to meet changing deadlines and priorities.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field, and 4-6 years of progressively responsible experience in the area of CPG/ Retail Category Management; or any combination of experience and education that provides the necessary skills, knowledge and ability to perform assigned tasks.  Masters degree is desirable.

This position currently does (not) require direct report management.
