POSITION SUMMARY

The Copywriter is responsible for the development of copy for a variety of marketing projects, responding to specific project requests or creative briefs with compelling copy that suits the channel and brand/sub-brand voice. This role will collaborate with writers and designers to deliver creative assets that meet the objectives and KPIs of each project as identified by key stakeholders.  

The Copywriter should be familiar with writing for digital environments, including SEO optimization and user experience, considering the broader digital ecosystem and linking strategies into their recommendations.  

The Copywriter should bring a fresh perspective to creative ideation and be eager to participate in brainstorming sessions and feedback discussions to elevate creative work to drive overall KPIs.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include the development and execution of marketing assets for the VTech Toys and LeapFrog brands in the North American market.

  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of campaign objectives and deliver copy to achieve them.
  • Develop Marketing Asset Sheet copy as assigned by the Sr. Manager Creative Development, collaborating with product development for clarity as needed.
  • Edit copy or press releases as requested.
  • Apply findings from various testing initiates as applicable to copy assignments.
  • Answer creative briefs to a very high standard with immaculate copy to produce print ads, brochures, cross-sells, direct mail, POP/POS materials, and trade show presentations.
  • Experience delivering copy for web pages that incorporates SEO best practices based on Google AdWords data, linking recommendations and keyword incorporation.
  • Provide expertise to Product Development team by writing, editing and/ or assisting with product manuals and voice lists/scripts.
  • Participate in product name generation brainstorming sessions and support follow up needs with additional ideation and research.
  • Execute product naming legal searches and tracking using Google and USPTO. Coordinate legal searches with external legal resources tracking spend and capturing results/final certifications of all legal marks.
  • Research competitive activity to inform best practices and successful approaches to content development.
  • Collaborate cross functionally with design teams to deliver channel-specific copy with clear and compelling messaging.
  • Manage multiple projects with the ability to switch from one to the other seamlessly, effectively prioritizing competing priorities and deadlines.

  • Exceptional communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills while working with key stakeholders
  • Ability to pitch concepts and rationale to internal customers and support other team members
  • Excellent attention to detail and command of grammar rules, in particular AP Style requirements
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a high-pressure environment and across different time zones, demonstrating can-do attitude and flexibility with changing schedules, scopes and priorities
  • Ability to deliver under tight timelines.
  • The ability to creatively resolve issues, understanding business constraints around resources, budgets, and timelines
  • Sense of curiosity, and desire to ask questions and "think outside the box"
  • Ability to think on feet, problem solve and pitch in where needed
  • Ability to translate technical information into interesting and compelling marketing messages
  • Ability to integrate consistent brand voice and personality into all communications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat and all relevant social media platforms
  • High professional and ethical standards

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Marketing or a related field, and three to five years of progressively responsible experience in the area of Copywriting; or any combination of experience and education that provides the necessary skills, knowledge and ability to perform assigned tasks.
