The Sr. Manager, Creative Development at VTech is responsible for the creative strategy, project management and execution of marketing assets for the VTech Toys and LeapFrog brands in the North American market. A successful Sr. Manager, Creative Development will have proven leadership and communication skills and thrive in a fast-paced environment that requires multitasking of projects. This role requires both design and writing knowledge to elevate and evolve the creative outputs and skill sets of the team as well as strong project management skills to keep all projects on track and on time. The Sr. Manager, Creative Development will deliver creative assets for key stakeholders that ladder up to strategic goals to meet overall business objectives and executional plans. This individual is responsible for the leadership, project oversight and skill growth of the graphics, digital design, copy and video production teams.


  • Develop and evolve brand style guides for new and existing brands, sub-brands and sub-lines that result in compelling and cohesive marketing executions across creative development
  • Work closely with Hong Kong-based packaging team to refine and improve all packaging executions across both VTech and LeapFrog product lines delivering on packaging best practices and maintaining the dual brand identities
  • Develop designs for POP/POS materials(e.g. displays) that capture the attention of the consumer at shelf to drive sales
  • Develop booth design, graphics and signage needs for all PR and trade events
  • Manage multilayer photography schedules, budget and hand off, balancing sample availability and creative deadlines to provide images to activation teams
  • Run internal and external trade shows, design and execution, partnering with Sales, Product Development and PR teams and delivering on the needs and expectations as outlined by executive leadership
  • Drive creative ideation and concepting with local agency for video production to effectively resonate in digital and social environments.
  • Support Marketing leadership in TV development with agency partner
  • Establish copy best practices and work with copy team to deliver on brand voice across a variety of copy needs (utility, digital, social, descriptive, script, etc.)
  • Manage high-volume workload by balancing effective delegation to team leads while maintaining a knowledge base on all projects and personally leading and developing key projects
  • Propose and effectively implement work flow tools and processes to streamline creative projects with key teams
  • Own digital asset manager tool, inputs and process for all creative assets
  • Prioritize workload and effectively manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • Stay plugged into industry trends, sharing information with creative team and finding ways to elevate work with fresh ideas
  • Coordinate external work with third-party vendors (e.g., printers) and manage related budgets
  • Inspire a culture of creativity and positivity within the Creative Services team by demonstrating servant leadership tenets; a collaborative, direct and clear approach to feedback and coaching, and strong communication skills with the team
  • Collaborate effectively with stakeholders and leaders, marketing channel managers, product marketing managers, peers in Hong Kong, as well as global marketing/product teams as needed
  • Serve as the external representative of the creative department for cross-functional teams in marketing
  • Prepare budget estimates, scopes of work and proposals when needed
  • Research and propose to Senior Management streamlined and cost effective creative processes, resources and technologySPECIFIC JOB SKILLS 
  • Strong design and production skills, including excellent working knowledge of graphic/digital design, video production and copywriting/editing principles
  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Digital Design, Creative Production, Marketing Communications Design or a related field and 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in the area of creative development/creative management, including project management and effective people management and leadership. Prior experience working with an outside agency is a plus; or any combination of experience and education that provides the necessary skills, knowledge and ability to perform assigned tasks.
  • Proven project management skills to develop schedules, meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and adjust to changes in schedules and assignments seamlessly within a fast-paced setting
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all levels of the organization, customers, employees, contractors and vendors
  • Must be able to effectively manage diverse personalities and work styles to foster collaborative and creative team environment
  • Willingness to drive the creative process and evolve quality of creative developed
  • Ability to think on feet, problem solve and pitch in where needed
  • High attention to detail, especially when completing multiple or repetitive tasks
  • Expert-level organizational skills and the ability to focus on important details
  • In-depth knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop; basic understanding of HTML; knowledge of web development software and FTP processes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite software
  • High professional and ethical standards
  • Persuasive, fact-based, and articulate with superlative collaboration skills
  • Tenacious protector of brand and quality standards
  • Strong prioritization and time-management skills
  • Experience with executing a full campaign development process from initial briefing to launch
  • Experience in managing and growing creative teams, fostering an environment of accountability and creativity
